Nili Jin -

Nili Jin, also known as Dr. Chengzi the orange, holds a medical degree from China and a Ph.D. in Physiology from Oklahoma State University. With 17 years of experience in biomedical research and over 30 published papers, she now focuses on science communication through videos and articles. In 2025, she co-founded X-simplify, a nonprofit dedicated to making biomedical and data sciences accessible, engaging, and inspiring for the public and future professionals.

- Han Li

Co-founder of X-simplify, Professor of Management Information Systems

Dr. Han Li is a full Professor of Management Information Systems at the Anderson School of Management, University of New Mexico. She earned her doctorate from Oklahoma State University and is a widely published scholar in the fields of information systems, decision science, and operations research. Her work has appeared in top-tier journals such as Information Systems ResearchJournal of the Association for Information SystemsOperations Research, and Decision Sciences, among others.

As co-founder of X-simplify, Dr. Li brings her expertise in technology, data-driven decision making, and behavioral research to help bridge the gap between complex scientific knowledge and public understanding. Her research interests—including health IT, misinformation, privacy, gamification, and technology adoption—align closely with X-simplify’s mission to empower both curious minds and future professionals with clear, engaging, and reliable science content.

She currently serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Electronic Commerce Research.

Li Ma -

Co-founder of X-simplify, Computer Science Instructor & Geomechanics Engineer

Li Ma is an interdisciplinary educator and engineer with a rare blend of expertise spanning computer science, geomechanics, and earth sciences. She holds multiple master’s degrees from UCLA and Peking University in Computer Networks, Geodynamics & Mineral Physics, and Seismology, and brings over 20 years of combined academic and industry experience.

As a Computer Science Instructor at Texas Southern University, Li teaches core subjects including C++, Java, networking, databases, and digital logic. Her earlier career in industry includes impactful work as a geomechanics engineer at Shell Exploration & Production Company, where she developed specialized software plugins for TechLog and Petrel, conducted hydraulic fracture modeling, and managed complex lab-based engineering projects.

As one of the co-founders of X-simplify, Li is dedicated to making complex scientific and technical ideas easier to grasp and more engaging for a broad audience, with her solid foundation in numerical modeling and industry-level software development, paired with her strong people skills and cross-disciplinary mindset.
